23 bills in Albany deal with surge of heroin, painkillers

Awaiting action in the Assembly this week are almost two dozen bills the Senate recently passed to address the heroin and painkiller epidemic rippling through New York and other states, acting on recommendations made by a Senate task force that held 18 forums around the state this spring.
